The Gifts of Imperfection
Author :Hugh MacLeod
Publication Year : 2009
Hugh, a man with a massive cartooning career, writes about his reflections and creative philosophy in 40 “keys” which are aimed at making you reflect on your own creativity and originality. He focuses on following your own instincts which are going to often be in defiance of conventional wisdom and societies’ norms. It’s not about being grand, it’s about being you. He points out that great ideas and people often grown in solitude and that much of our creative life could be quietly ignored before it is celebrated.
The book balances idealism with pragmatism. If you’re a creative then this book is a great guidance and encouragement to pursue what you do. If you’re not, Hugh’s lessons are those that can be applied to any part of life and passion you have.
